Ian Helme is a leading junior specialising in all aspects of information, data and media law. He is widely recognised for his regular involvement in cutting-edge and complex litigation and has been at the forefront of many recent developments in the law of data privacy and defamation, in particular. He acted in the first UK ‘right to be forgotten’ case against Google and in the first trial of the new public interest defence under the Defamation Act 2013.

A former visiting lecturer at King’s College University, where he taught information and privacy law, Ian is also recognised as a leading academic lawyer who has contributed to many of the textbooks in the field and regularly gives presentations to industry bodies about current and future legal issues.
